Tues Talks

✨ Art and Health ✨

Did you know that participating in the arts is good for your health?

Come learn what the current research says about how arts participation supports good health, especially among older adults.

Some people think making art is fun. Others enjoy events like concerts and plays. Sadly, some think the arts are only for “trained or talented artists and performers.” Participation in the arts is a human activity, not an elite activity reserved for a privileged few.

Participation in the arts is good for our health – our mental and physical health, spiritual health, and our brain health! And you don’t need expertise or talent to receive the health benefits.

Come to this free presentation on how participating in the arts – making art, attending concerts, dancing, and going to museums supports health across the lifespan, especially when done with others. And, it’s fun!

Barbara Davis is a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with extensive training in trauma-informed expressive arts therapy, mind-body medicine, and psychoanalytic psychotherapy. With over 30 years of experience, Barbara has seen firsthand the many benefits of participating in the arts. Barbara has an MSW and MFA from Rutgers University and a BFA from RISD. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, swimming, hiking, cross-country skiing, and making art.

Sometimes one conversation changes the way you see everything.

FREE to attend, but seating is limited. Come early to secure your spot.
